Sleater-Kinney Forever

The influential Olympia rock outfit is releasing a new album this month — and celebrating 30 years as a band.


Olympia-formed rock band Sleater-Kinney’s last album, Path of Wellness (2021), was vexed with the ambient fear, chronic uncertainty, and practical restrictions imposed by the pandemic. Its latest, this month’s Little Rope, was affected by sudden, personal tragedy. After the completion of about five songs, its Redmond-born co-frontwoman and -guitarist, Carrie Brownstein, was faced with the unexpected: her mother and stepfather had been killed in a car accident while vacationing in Italy.
