When 425 gave University of Washington student Johnny Huynh a call the other day, he was, like many of his peers, in the thick of studying for finals, and was, unlike many of his peers, a few weeks fresh from achieving the kind of personal milestone about which others can only fantasize: the release of his first single, “Good as You,” through Columbia Records, the major label whose roster includes the likes of Beyoncé, Adele, and Bob Dylan. It’s one song of several to be released over the next few months that will appear on an EP slated to come out either at the end of this year or the beginning of next.
“It’s gonna be a whole new side of me — this is like the next episode of my life from, like, singing in garages to now making my original music,” the 21-year-old Bothell resident and third-year mechanical engineering student said of the EP from his family’s home.
