‘There’s No One Entry’: How the MoPOP’s Newest Exhibit is Exploring Hip-Hop History

For 425: The launch of the Museum of Pop Culture’s ‘Beats + Rhymes: A Collective Narrative of Hip-Hop’ exhibition coincides with the start of Hip-Hop History Month.

One way the Museum of Pop Culture is commemorating Hip-Hop History Month — otherwise known as November — is with a new exhibit highlighting five of the genre’s key pillars: MCing, breakdancing, DJing, graffiti, and knowledge.

Falling under the umbrella of the MoPOP’s guest curator program, Beats + Rhymes: A Collective Narrative of Hip-Hop debuts on Saturday and explores three decades (specifically 1970-2000) with a packed, disparate lineup of artifacts, oral histories, a special spotlight on women artists, and more.
