Take away the fact that it took place on a gloomily overcast Monday; was at a venue I don’t particularly like; and didn’t put my all-time-favorite song of theirs on the setlist, Haim’s Seattle show this week was a pretty much faultless, long-time-coming triumph for a band whose most recent LP, Women in Music Pt. III, turns 2 soon. “We’ve been wanting to play this album for you guys for so f-cking long,” frontwoman Danielle Haim said mid-show, and not for the last time.
Seattle was the penultimate stop on the band’s 27-date One More Haim tour, which began in Las Vegas in April and ended yesterday in Bend, Oregon. If Haim — made up of sisters Danielle, Este, and Alana — were at all feeling end-of-the-tour fatigue, you couldn’t tell across a spirited 100-minute set that included a dance break, a skit, and funny between-song banter that indirectly argued for Este as a potentially very-good awards-show MC if she ever wanted to give it a try.
